THE SAD-Buster Day
The clocks are changing on 28th October causing an estimated half a million people to start suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). SAD is caused by the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight; it is a type of winter depression caused by a lack of serotonin in the brain.
Symptoms include:
- difficulty staying awake and desire to oversleep
- inability to carry out normal routine and feelings of fatigue
- craving for carbohydrates and sweet foods
- irritability and inability to tolerate stress
To help combat these symptoms Absolute Fitness and The Lotus Exchange have joined forces to bring you ‘The SAD buster day’ a range of office-based activities to generate positive moods and physical energy during the winter.
The SAD-Buster Day is available in bespoke half and full day formats, choose from these 1 hour sessions:
- Walk/run for fun class – to get you outdoors in daylight
- Yoga – to stimulate the pineal gland (our ‘go-to-sleep’ enzyme )
- Boxing – gets the endorphins flowing
- Nutrition & Exercise workshop - to help beat SAD
- Drumming – Play rhythmic music to stimulate serotonin in the brain
- Massage – to stimulate the metabolism and remove any stress
